2022 Edison International Lineworker Scholarship

Applications for the 2022 Edison International Lineworker Scholarship will be accepted through May 6, 2022

Community Partners, Members, Families, and Friends,
Please help us spread the word on this, the 2nd Southern California Edison Lineworker Scholarship Program to increase Black Participation in skilled trades.

In 2021 Edison International launched its first Edison International Lineworker Scholarship to 40 Black Applicants. This year continues with its scholarship to increase diversity among SCE’s Craft Lineworkers focusing on attracting Black Young Men, and Women. Scholarship winners will complete the coursework needed to receive a Powerline Mechanic Certificate at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and a Class A California driver’s license. The scholarship will cover tuition and needed tools.

The scholarship will also provide support services, such as transportation and childcare, for the scholarship winners through an agreement with Brotherhood Crusade, a charitable nonprofit. Program graduates may qualify for a job at SCE, and those who pass new employee assessments will be eligible to start as groundmen. We appreciate IBEW Local 47 for their partnership in this effort, including providing program funding.

In 2001, after the killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery, Edison International promised to increase DEI transparency and accountability and made commitments to combat systemic discrimination in our communities. The continuation of this scholarship program marks a significant milestone in that commitment.

SCE serves one of the country’s most diverse areas, and it is important that team members reflect and represent the communities the company serves. We encourage you to share today’s Energized story with your networks and on your social media channels to help ensure potential applicants are aware of this new program. For more information and to access the application, please click here or send a message to info@edisonintl.com, or contact me at revfjackson@cox.net.

This is a team effort, and we need — and appreciate — your support and participation to advance equity and inclusion.

Thank you for your commitment to each other, and our communities. Be safe and be well.
